I have had an ongoing battle with a project in which I need to hyperlink or attach files to a shapefile. This is so that when you use the identify tool, the link will pop right up and you are good to go. Now this is fairly easy and I can set these up no problem. The problem is though, I have to do thousands of them. 9,048 to be exact. So the big question is, is there anyway to set up hyperlink or attachments so that you don't have to do them individually or is there anyway I can do this outside the ArcGIS system?
I am using ArcGIS 10.1 and the project is taking each quarter of a section of a township and linking it to the multiple pdfs set up for the land surveys done in that location. There are 2,000 some odd quarters and like I said before 9,048 pdfs. I can do it individually but that would not be that fun and seems counterproductive.
