I have a string field that I would like to be a double field (who creates text fields for numbers?). I know you can't just change types so I would have to create a new field withe correct type and copy the values over, but this field is part of a relationship class. Would I have to delete the relationship class first and recreate it when I make the new field? Is there and easy way to replace this field? I just created a new field of the correct type and deleted the old field for one that is not involved in the relationship class and I had to delete the index before it would let me delete it. I've never done this before and just want to know if anyone has experience with this before I go in and screw up my database.
