Edit mode kills right-click functions

I am trying to edit my Geodatabase based annotation. Whenever I start the editor, all right click functions stop. Doesn't matter if its in the table of contents, or trying to right click the text itself (eg: Right click select follow feature). I have to shut down Arc to get the function working again.

Anyone able to help me out?
