I have read through dozens of threads on this already but they all relate to labels disappearing due to a specific reason or only for a single shapefile/feature class.
I have been work on a large geologic dataset for some time. Every once in a while (has not happened after a certain action it seems), all labels on the map disappear. From that point it seems the .mxd is condemned and the only way to get them back is to open a new .mxd and reimport all of the data.
I have double checked spatial reference scale, but it seems that the whole .mxd rejects labeling. I am working with data that NEEDS labels to get anything done (geology-strike and dips). This has happened several times and I'm really wasting time starting from the ground up repeatedly.
Any ideas on what could cause this? Like I said it has happened at different random times. Once when I saved edits, once when I changed symbology, and once when I opened the doc they were just gone. I'm not sure if my ArcGIS Desktop needs to be reinstalled or something? Or is there some setting that auto-changes in the background that may be affecting this?
Any ideas are greatly appreciated. Like I said above, I've dissected every thread I can find regarding this issue but my problem seems to be unique in the fact it affects the whole document at random.
