Update File Geodatabase

Hi

Can anyone tell me the best way to update a file geodatabase to take account of new raster images being published.

i.e when a new raster image is supplied what is the best way to get it into the database. I have currently overwritten the previous file in the folder. Do i need to completely rebuild the database or is there a way to just add the new file.
