I have exported my parcel layer (in SDE) to a shapefile so that I can remove some parcels and add some columns for calculation purposes. Usually I would turn off my SDE layer so that I can just see the shapefile I am editing. I happened to leave both on, and discovered that in many areas wherever there was a curve (like around a cul-de-sac), there would be an offset of the lines - the shapefile lines did not lie right on top of the SDE layer. I found this while zooming to a sliver and it was so far in, the two lines were clearly visible. I panned around a bit, and it appears that some curves are the only things affected. One place I measured, the offset distance was about an inch - not earthshattering and won't affect what I am doing, but puzzling. Other curves as well as straight lines are correct, and right on top of each other. Note that out department did not do the original parcel digitizing, so I do not know what create/edit tool was used to form the curves.
I then exported the same SDE file to a geodatabase, and did not have the offset problem.
It's not a big deal, but would like to know if anyone has any thoughts? Thanks.
