Extracting/Obtaining the outermost boundary line of a polygon

I have a similar looking water feature (large lake) that I would like to extract the outermost boundary line from. There are many interior features (islands and main channel) and it doesn't seem like there is a simple way (short of manually editing) to obtain or extract this boundary line to a new polygon layer. The only way Ive found so far is to manually delete vertices either by selection or using the sketch properties.

I'd like to make this process easy to replicate with little variance instance to instance as I would like to summarize the workflow to be released in a simple manner to any other user. As you know it can be tricky having someone try to duplicate the data when each person is selecting certain vertices and making decisions on what to delete and not to delete. I would guess if 5 people we're assigned to this task, we would get 5 different products.

I just want to take the outermost "footprint" or boundary of this multipart polygon layer.

Anyone know of a quick or simple way to perform a task like this?
