Parcel Editing Web Course Crash

Hi all,

I am working through the 'Introduction to Editing Parcels Using ArcGIS Desktop 10' course, and am finding that ArcMap freezes when l try to load one of the sample sets of data. Specifically, the TaxParcelEditingMap.mxd used in Step 6 of the first exercise.

I already have turned off hardware acceleration to avoid crashing when adding basemaps.

Thoughts, ideas, suggestions? I am using 10.1 on Windows 7.
