Personal GDB feature classes not displaying data

I picked up a project from a colleague who recently left our company. The project is for mapping locations within a large military facility. The facility gave us a couple personal geodatabases containing data conforming to SDSFIE standards. When I open the MXDs and successfully repair the connections, the layers pointing to one of the *.MDB files isn't displaying the data. The layers pointing to another GDB display fine. The data doesn't appear on the screen, but it is shown within the attributes. I can highlight it and zoom, but nothing shows up. It's not an issue with symbology - as I can add a new layer from the .MDB and it still doesn't appear. The MXD was created in 9.3.1 and the database has been updated to my ArcGIS version 10.2.1.

The weird thing is, if I open a new document and add data from that personal GDB, the data shows up.

I think it might be the spatial index, but with a personal GDB, that requires deleting and re-creating feature classes, but there are relationship classes involved and those connections would be severed.

Any idea why data isn't displaying in previously-created MXD files from a certain personal GDB?
