We had a problem with ArcCatalog 10.2 preview showing blanks and zeroes after a shapefile/coverage feature class was imported into a Microsoft SQL Server-based enterprise geodatabase. The interesting thing was that some users could see the attrinute data and some could not. All machines are Windows 7 64-bit.
The problem was caused by a mismatch between the SQL Server client (SQL Server 2008 Native Client) and the SQL Server database server. (SQL Server 2008 R2). After uninstalling and updating the SQL Server Native Client to the R2 version (SQL Server 2008 R2 Native Client 10.50.1600.1), the user was able to correctly preview attributes in ArcCatalog 10.2.
I didn't think that SQL Server client/server mismatches would cause such an issue, but now we are updating all of our machines to match the server version.
I just thought I would post this in case anyone else encounters this issue.
