Basemap Layer delays ArcMap starting TOC and map display

I added a new basemap layer to my table of contents (TOC). It works fine and has a good performance. But when I close ArcMap and restart ArcMap, it takes about one minute untill Arcmap loads the TOC and displays the map with the layers. I just have this problem when I have a basemap layer in my TOC. Working with the basemap layer ist fine and doesn`t cause any problems. Has someone a solution for this problem? I am using ArcMap 10.1.
