Save and Reuse Custom Color Ramp

Hello,

I am not sure if my Title accurately depicts my question or not, but here it goes...

I am working on a zoning map for a municipality where I am using an existing layer file with a field called 2010_zoning. Each parcel has a different type of zoning classification, ie. R-1, A-1, etc. There are about 30 different classifications. The existing layer file has each different classification represented using the unique values in symbology with a custom color associated with it (industry standard per type of zoning classification).

There are numerous zoning changes that have taken place since 2010 that I am updating. What I did was create a field called 2013_zoning and using field calculator, made 2013_zoning = 2010_zoning. Now I can just change the classification in the 2013_zoning field according to the new zoning that was passed.

However, when I then select 2013_zoning in the "value field" and add all values, I get a default color ramp. I need the colors of the fields in the 2013_zoning field to match that of 2010_zoning as they are per industry standards.

Is there a way to essentially match properties or do I need to write down each zoning classification's color in 2010_zoning and make that the color in that respective zoning classification for 2013_zoning?

It won't take that long, but it seems like there should be a way to export and import a specific color scheme.

Hope this question makes sense to ya'll.

Thanks much,
