Issues in publishing Maps with Join

I am trying to publish a Map with a join where the table is in .xlsx format.
But I got the following error while I tried to publish.

SEVERITY STATUS CODE DESCRIPTION
High Unresolved 00099 Layer has a join with an unsupported data source

I would appreciate any help which could help me progress with regard to solving the issue.

P.S: I published the map just with the join

arcgis 10.2.1; cant export to PDF?

does anyone else's arcgis 10.2.1 crash every time they try to export a PDF?

the same mxd's made PDF's just fine in 10.1.

any ideas?

edit: figured it out... the default export style is a "production" pdf (whatever that is)... if you switch to a normal pdf no more crashing.

Cannot share mxd as runtime content. General Function Failure

I'm trying to share my mxd as runtime content using ArcGIS Desktop 10.2.1. I followed the steps here, however everytime I try to generate the output I get an error message that reads as "General Function Failure"

Bing Maps works fine at first, then gets slow

I've been trying to get Bing Maps layers to work in ArcMap. I have a Bing Maps key, I load the layers using the "Add Data From ArcGIS Online" command, and it works great at first. Response time when panning and zooming the Bing Maps layer is good.

But after a while the behavior suddenly changes. The response time when panning and zooming the Bing Maps layer gets much worse. It still works but it's so slow as to make using it tedious.

I ran Fiddler to analyze the HTTP requests ArcMap was making. When I first load the Bing Maps layer it makes requests to virtualearth.net like I expect. But when the slowdown occurs I see a lot of requests to serverapi.arcgisonline.com which weren't occurring before. The request path is always /veadaptor/production//services/identity/clientip and there are two such requests for every tile request, a HEAD followed by a GET. I think these requests to serverapi.arcgisonline.com are what slows down performance so much.

At this point I save my project, exit ArcMap, then run ArcMap and open the project. Performance of the Bing Maps layer is great again until some time passes and those requests to serverapi.arcgisonline.com begin again.

Does anyone know why this happens? Why does ArcMap relentlessly query serverapi.arcgisonline.com for every tile request to Bing Maps?

NIM089961 Buffering fails with an error: 000599

NIM089961 Buffering fails with an error: "000599: Falls outside of output geometry domains" if the 'OUTSIDE_ONLY' option is turned on and dissolve is not used.

It seems like this issue was not resolved fully. I am running a simple buffer to a line feature class with the dissolving option enabled with no luck. The same error is returned every time the operation is executed.

ArcScene. Problem with displaying polygons.

Hi!
I have problem with proper displaying polygons on ArcScene.
On ArcMap everything is OK. I have been trying do something with rendering at Properties but it did not help.

This thinner polygons (between this larger) were created by 'Poly to line' (then created small buffer from this lines).
Sometimes when I am adding date all display proper for some times (until I change the view).

Ps. I have ArcMAp 10.2.1. Everything with Base Height is OK.

Importing .sid file and converting to .TIFF

Hello,

For a current project, I have received a .sid file of an aerial map. The study area is very large, and the image size is 4.9 megabytes.
I would like to import this .sid file into ArcMap, and convert into a high resolution .TIFF (approximately 10000 x 10000)

Is there a way to do this in ArcMap? And if it cannot be done in ArcMap, does anybody have any experience with this type of file conversion?

Create Mobile Cache Help

I'm working in 10.1 SP1. I am trying to create a mobile cache for some field work but every time I run the tool from Mobile Tools it returns 0 (zero) data. I can't figure out what's wrong and what Esri has in the Help is not helpful (link below).

I need a by the number help- 1. your data should be in this format, 2. do this, 3. do that, etc. etc.

Adding X,Y coordinates from Excel

Before I get into my topic of discussion, I should preface by saying that I am a beginner to the arcmap 10.1 software, so please excuse
any "newb" comments I might make.

Basically, I am trying to construct somewhat simple map of the United States that displays the
location of colleges that athletes from my school have gone onto transfer to. I am using a USA topographic map that I added
through ArcGIS online and the map was created by ESRI. The projected coordinate system for this map is "WGS_1984_Web_Mercator_Auxiliary_Sphere," and it's map units are in meters.

I created an excel spreadsheet with all the necessary information I need (name of student, name of the school, and the x and y
coordinates for each of their respective schools). When I add the excel spreadsheet document to my map using the "Add X,Y Data"
function, a new layer appears in my table of contents with all of my information included in the attributes table. The problem is no
points appear on my map whatsoever. It's not that they're in the wrong place, they just don't show up at all.

Like I mentioned before, the units used for this map is in meters, so does this mean that my x and coordinates must also be in
meters or can I still use decimal degrees for my coordinates? Either way, I tried using both, to no avail. Also, my excel spreadsheet is saved as a .xlsx file, if that makes any difference. If anyone has any insight or suggestions into this matter you would be helping me a lot and I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you in advance.

ArcScene disappearing DEM's!

Hey All,

So I want to be able to view my DEM that I am using in ArcGIS10 in 3D. However, the file is very large and when I add it to ArcScene it computes it so that it only had two values under symbology.

However, I have smaller grids of the DEM that I have tried to import into Arcscene (will merge them later) however, I can't see them? Anybody know why this might be?

Can't open Lidar file on 10.2

Hello, I have .las files that I could open on 10.1. Now I installed 10.2 version and I can't open them anymore ... I checked all necessary extensions were activated. But if I try to add the .las files, they don't even appear in the file selection dialog box. What did change in 10.2 for lidar data???? Does anybody know what the issues are?

Problem displaying data from Trimble Nomad in ArcMap

Apologies for the stupid question. I'm used to using a Trimble GeoXT to take point data, and have never had any problem displaying these in ArcGIS 10. I'm now attempting to recover data from a Trimble Nomad (I haven't yet been able to ID the model, but at least five years old). However, ArcMap recognizes these point data as raster datasets, and obviously won't display them. Does anyone know why this might be? I'm used to the GeoXT data having extensions: .dbf, .prj, .sbn, sbx, .shp, .shx. The data on the Nomad, by contrast, have these extensions: .obx, .obs, .gix, .giw, . gis, .gip, .car, .gic, .dd. What do I need to do to manipulate these data into usable form? Any guidance greatly appreciated.

Distance between 2 coordinates

Hello,

So i plot some coordinates in ArcGis, these coordinates are Buoys, and i have the coordinates of where the buoys should be, and where they are in reality. So If i use the rules, i see that there is between 1m and 30m of difference.

Thus i would like to create a new column, or table or xls files with each difference between the original and real position of each buoys.

i have the coordinates in Lat/Long ( after transformation using Eye4software coordinate calculator which is great software for conversion !! )

Can someone have an idea ?

Changing Annotation Override Field

To All ArcGIS Desktop Users:

I have annotation that I need to work in both a custom desktop application where annotation uses the default values and a web application where symbol substitution is used. In order for this to work I need to change the Annotation Override field value. The following link:

says that the Override field is not editable and is maintained by ArcGIS. My guess is that this value is not directly editable but reads other fields to obtain this value as it is a summation of overrides for multiple annotation fields. I'm thinking that I can change other field values and the Override field value will also change.

Does anyone know how to get the value of the Override field to change?

Downloading Attachments from Hosted Service

Working with ArcGIS Online Collector App, have a working map online that we've used to collect damage info & photos from recent local tornado. Want to be able to download the file with all attributes and attachments. Basic file w/attributes works fine, but can't come up with a way to get the attached photos. When you open the map in Desktop (either Basic or Standard) we get no attachments. Only idea in the Collector forum was that it did work if all points have photos, but mine don't.

3D Illumination and Shading Models

Can anyone provide information on the underlying illumination and shading models/algorithms used within ArcScene (for example ambient vs spot, Phong, Lambert, Minneart)? I am specifically interested in the sun lighting model used to render light and shadow on 3D feature models such as buildings, and the ability to render terrain shadows due to hills and cliffs etc.

How to exclude graphics from a clipped data frame extent

Hello world :-)

I recently applied (using another layer) a clipped data frame extent ('Clip to shape'with some layers being excluded). Everything is working well (ok, a few rendereing issues, have to keep hitting the refresh button), nevertheless, I want to exclude graphics from this and cannot seem to find the settings (if there even is one). This is crucial because I am using the Profile Graph option after drawing a line using the Interpolate Line drawing tool. The line I am drawing goes beyond the 'restricted' extent but I need it to be excluded (just like I applied for some of my layers in the data frame). This is really crucial in my application. Can someone please help me out,

Georeferencing a project map(raster) with an Arc basemap with the same projection

Here is the deal..

I have a map (raster) which is already in a projected co-ordinate system. I know this cause the map says so. Now I want to geo-ref this to a Arc basemap.

I bring up a basemap, set the dataframe to the same projected co-oridinate system as the raster then bring in the raster. Now since there is no link between the raster and the basemap (even though they have the projected co-ordinate system), the raster displays in a random area. I want to now move the raster in its correct position but Arc greys out the georeferencing tool in which I was hoping to add control points and then click update display.

I'm missing something but not quite sure? Do you necessarily have to work in a Geographic coordiante system, do the georeferencing there and then project the raster?

Reduce number of decimals in measure tool

Hi!

I would like to decrease the number of decimal digits shown when I use the measurment tool in ArcMap 10.1 SP1 Win7 64 bit. As of now it shows me six decimals! Two decimals would be more apporpriate...
I have searched high and low and start to think that changing the number of decimals is not doable. I hope someone out there can prove me wrong! ;)

Can't run MobileCache2Shape 3.0

Has anyone been able to run the MobileCache2Shape 3.0 tool? I am trying to extract data from a mobile db file but when I double click on the executable file it says it has stopped working and shuts down. I am running Arcgis 10.1.1 and Mobile 10.1.1.
