De-activate a hyperlink?

Hi, thanks for looking at my post. I have a Parcels layer that is set to a hyperlink, I have the Parcels layer loaded and they are drawn in green, then when I select the lightning bolt tool all of the features are then drawn in blue as they have hyperlinks defined. I select a Parcel and it does what it is suppose to do, that all works good.

Now, I will remove the Parcels, do other things, and later on I will reload the Parcels layer while I am still in the same session. When I reload the layer all of the features are drawn in blue as if I have already selected the lightning bolt tool.

If I close the session and re-start the application and load the Parcels layer they are drawn in green.

I have looked and I could find no information on de-activating the tool once the layer was removed.

Just so you know this is my first time working with a hyperlink and I have the hyperlink properties set on the layer and I am using a hyperlink script in the layer properties.

I am expecting that when I remove the layer and then re-load it that I will have to select the lightning bolt tool to start/set up the hyperlink. So my question is: is this normal behaviour when using a hyperlink with a layer?

Thank you for your time. Dale,
