metadata not updating spatial reference

Hello,

I am trying to create meatadata files for several LAS files. The LAS files have coordinate system info in the header and also I have created seperate prj files but my metadata is not updating with the spatial reference info. I have also tried creating an Las dataset with the Las files and got the same result. I am using v10.1 and have the 3d analyst extension. Any advice would be appreciated.
