Appending features to a feature class with representation

We have a feature class stored in a file geodatabase that contains representations. On a weekly basis, we need to update this feature class from our production environment. We use delete features, follow by append. As a result of this workflow, all of the appended features have an invalid representation ID and do not display correctly within ArcMap.

Looking at the feature attribution, the field to manage the feature representation rule ID is empty.

Is there a way to set a default rule ID? or is there a better work flow?
