I've got a table of lat/long locations from a table the Canadian Govt. made in 1974 showing locatinos of traplines held by aboriginal people. The problem I am having is that either the data is wrong, which is possible, or I'm doing something wrong creating a layer from this data, also possible.
In order to create the points I added the table, assumed nad27 geographic as that is what was used by CDN govt on other maps in this area at that time, and tried create xy, as well as placing points using rt-click and typing in the coordinates.
The points are spread out from where they should be. I had 3 people in who knew the locations of the points on ground and it seems the further from centre of the data you get the more error there is.
My question is this, is this bad data, or is there something I did wrong creating the data?
