Error Message - Unable to open some MXDs

when I try to open up some map documents, I get the error message, "Opening the selected ArcMap Document Failed. An unexpected error occurred while loading the map document. The last successfully loaded component was: esri GeoDatabase.WorkspaceName
The specified file does not contain a valid ArcMap document. (See attachment)

HOWEVER, my co-worker can open the file fine on her computer.
