10.2, creating street index from data frame grid

When ESRI phone tech support can't figure it out, you folks usually can :)

I have a layout with data frame for which I've created a tabbed grid, using the functionality built into ArcMap.

I also have a street centerline feature class

Now I need to generate a street index layer or text file, using the data frame grid to generate a list of which grid cell each street is in. I will then add this list to my map layout.

Easy to do in ArcGIS 9.3.1, NOT easy to do in 10.2 ... but then why am I surprised.

Any thoughts?
