Hi there, I'm a student and I'm trying to select the features that are within a .35 mile distance from the edges of a polygon. My map is of a city and the polygons are the various districts within the city (the whole city is covered by polygons and all points fall within one polygon). I need to select the features that are just around the boundaries of the polygons; that is, those features that are on either side of the edges. I tried select by location but I don't seem to see any spacial query that matches what I am trying to do.
Does anyone have any idea how I can do this?

EDIT: it looks like I want something like this: http://forums.esri.com/Thread.asp?c=93&f=982&t=219417 (second post) but it doesn't seem to work. I go to edit, go to a new attribute, open the field calculator and paste that code but it tells me "There was a failure during processing, check the Geoprocessing Results window for details"
Does anyone have any idea how I can do this?
