Out of Bounds error

I am hoping someone can help and offer guidance as to how to prevent this problem. I have been editing a series of polygons in a geodatabase. This problem has happened twice. I was actively editing a polygon and saving as I go. Suddenly, I go to save my last few changes and I get the error stating that the coordinates or measures are out of bounds. I have not made any changes to the map besides moving a point or two on the polygon and a minute before I had saved other changes to the polygon. In order to fix the problem I have had to make a completly new layer which is very time consuming.
