I have 30+ polygon shapefiles that I need into 1 file. I have co-workers that use old AML scripts to bring them all together, but we need to update the process into ArcMap. The reason they have kept it in AML is because they can maintain feature topology when they convert to a coverage first and then loop through unions until they are all as 1. I just unioned all layers together to see what issues I would have with topology, and wow, there are a lot of issues. No 1 layer individually has any topology errors, but as soon as i union, there are overlapping areas everywhere. Is there a way I can preserve topology and not run into this inside ArcMap? I am almost ready to quite trying and keep everything in AML.
