Domain not showing in Feature Class

I created a personal geodatabase from a shapefile. Then made domains to use for data integrity. When I go to the feature class properties and try to associate the domain, there is no drop down in the box next to “domain”.
There are no Subtypes

For domains, I built a simple field type one with 5 choices and also imported one with several choices just to see if it made a difference.

Any Idea why? Or what I should check? I’ve about exhausted my things to check.
