Importing Excel Spreadsheets

I'm using ArcGIS 10.2 Basic. I'm trying to add an 2013 Excel spreadsheet to the table of contents and when I try to add the table I get this error message "Connect - Failed to connect to database. An Underlying database error occurred. Class not registered.". I've attached the error message. If I save the spreadsheet to the 97-2003 version then it works. Does anyone know how to fix it. Any help would be appreciated.
