Hi,
I have a line feature class representing gas distribution mains. It is not 'z-aware'.
I also have the OS OpenData Terrain 50 contour lines (http://www.ordnancesurvey.co.uk/busi...errain-50.html).
What I would like to do is combine these two layers and be able to symbolise the pipes with an arrow pointing downhill. It doesn't matter if the pipe features get split where they intersect the contours.
I guess the first step might be to populate Z values for the pipes based on some sort of spatial join?
Or would it be better to use linear referencing?
I am using ArcGIS 9.3 with an ArcEditor license.
Cheers
Dan
