I am trying to run ArcGIS 10.1 on my PC. Each time I open ArcMap, for example, the application immediately crashes and produces a "Serious error" message page. I never even see the application. There is nothing going on in the Windows Event Log when this happens. My computer exceeds the requirements for ArcGIS, according to the ArcGIS system requirements web page. I even ran the Java utility to check compatibility and my computer passed with flying colors. The software is licensed for concurrent usage through a central licensing server, which it appears to be contacting. The PC is a Dell Optiplex 755, running Windows 7 Pro SP1, with 4GB of RAM and a Core 2 Duo CPU. The video card is an ATI Radeon HD 2400 XT with 256MB of video RAM. I am at a loss as to what to do next. Is there a program-specific log file that ArcGIS uses instead of the Windows Event Log?
